ALL YOU. ALL  SPORTS.

Don’t get stuck
on the sidelines.

Here’s the rub, most people take too long to return to sport…

Book an appointment with one of our top Newcastle sports physios so you can get the very best out of your sport.

They get the wrong diagnosis and the wrong advice. This = slow recovery. If you’re an elite athlete, an over 35s oztag legend or a golfing wunderkind you already know that getting back to competition means doing boring exercises and hoping for the best. It’s a sad fact, many injured players make the costly mistake of getting the wrong diagnosis and the wrong boring exercises. Without the best care, you’ll end up like most sporty types – stuck on the sidelines and out for a season, not just a few weeks. Bad times.

I know. I was one. I was misdiagnosed after a knee injury when I was 16years old and it made my life miserable for a decade. My ‘patellar dislocation’ was actually a ruptured ACL! If theres a silver lining – its that it motivated me to study physio and help as many people as possible. I also gathered up several buckets of sympathy.

This is why we started Brightside. We will show you how to manage your injury by rehabilitating you in the quickest, most effective way so you don’t spend more time off your sport.

It’s a sad fact, many injured players make the costly mistake of getting the wrong diagnosis and the wrong boring exercises.

Here’s 3 top tips for what to do for your sports injury:

  1. Don’t stretch a tear. Feel a niggle? A muscle strain? A dodgy hami? For the love of all that is good, don’t stretch it. Stretching an injured bit of soft tissue is likely to make it worse, not better
  2. Ice (it if it feels good). They jury is out on whether ice is actually helpful. If it makes you feel better, by all means – grab those frozen peas. But don’t worry too much if you can’t.
  3. Move if you can. Most injuries do best with early activation. In general, if its not too painful or swollen try and use the injured area. If you’re not sure…
  4. Book a good physio. Not just because we’re great (we are) or that we have fantastic jokes (we don’t) but because it will help you recover better.
  5. Don’t risk mis-diagnosis and dodgy advice.
